One of the top ten science centers in the US, SciTrek (Science & Technology Museum of Atlanta) houses more than 140 fascinating exhibits that will appeal to all age ranges.

The interactive displays offer visitors the opportunity to explore and discover the marvels of the scientific world, with a special Kidscape section specially designed for the two to seven years age group.

The Mathematica exhibit details the major achievements in the history of mathematics from the twelfth century as well as explaining mathematical formulae including the laws of planetary motion and probability theory.

Other exhibits focus on generating electricity in unusual ways, creating energy from magnetism, 'freezing shadows' or stepping inside a kaleidoscope.

Day Trip Suggestion
From SciTrek, take Interstate 78 east for 16 miles to Stone Mountain Park, a 3200-acre (1300-hectare) recreation area crowned with a peak rising 825 feet (250 meters) above the plain, accessed by Skylift.

Carved into one face of the peak are the Confederate leaders Davis, Lee and Jackson, lit by an amazing laser show on summer evenings.
